PNZ Group can create verified carbon credits for any eligible retrofit measure installed in a domestic home. Our crediting methodology covers a wide range of energy-saving and renewable energy measures. The sale of these credits funds a long-term income stream that can help to fund further retrofit activity.

Our methodology is the only one in the world for originating carbon credits to fund the retrofit of homes. We are accredited under the Verified Carbon Standard – the global standard for carbon crediting projects. We are working with over 140 local authorities and housing associations across the UK to deliver funding for their retrofit projects. In 2023, we announced a venture with London’s Camden Borough Council, putting our crediting service at the heart of its Climate Action Plan.
As part of HM Government’s Green Home Finance Accelerator, we were funded by BEIS/DESNZ to expand the scope of our service from social housing into the private installer market. Recently, we won the prestigious Ashden Award for UK Energy Innovation of the Year, recognising our role in empowering a fairer future.
Over 6.7 million households are estimated to live in fuel poverty, and this number is projected to rise. PNZ Group credits drive uplift in UK communities, through additional funding for retrofit measures. The credits measure social value improvements for people and communities, not just emissions savings.
Homes are the single largest contributor of carbon emissions from the built environment. Recognised in the UK Green Building Council’s Carbon Offsetting and Pricing Report. The PNZ Group methodology is unique and fully quantifies immediate and long-term emissions reductions.
It is estimated that £500bn is needed to upgrade UK homes by 2050. The Government alone can’t foot this bill. PNZ Group local models allow retrofit measures to be rolled out in volume across large housing portfolios. The credits finance effective climate transition, with funds channelled back to further retrofit works.
